About us
We started Smarter Loans in 2022 after seeing a need to adopt a smarter way of doing the loan applications to ensure that we get better success for the borrowers.
We still use a lot of automation, but we have added a manual review process that ensures that we can amend the applications when needed and this allows us to present them to our lenders better and ultimately get a better result for you.
Our company name is North West Group Holdings Limited and one of our brands that we trade as is Smarter Loans. Our director Stuart Wills has been working in finance as an adviser for over 20-years and brings this experience to Smarter Loans to help with processes and to ensure better results for you.
We are a locally owned New Zealand business with access to a range of specialist lenders. Our office is based in Hobsonville, Auckland but we work with people throughout New Zealand to provide the finance required.

Our Process
Our Smarter Process – when researching the way people were applying for loans we discovered that we needed to adopt a smarter way of doing the loan applications to ensure that we get better success for the borrowers. We still use a lot of automation, but we have added a manual review process that ensures that we can amend the applications when needed and this allows us to present them to our lenders better and ultimately get a better result for you.
The manual review process lets us adjust things that may have a negative impact on your application. We may also contact you to seek clarity on things within your application, credit checks and bank statements. It’s often little things within an application that can make the difference between getting an approval or a good deal to having an application declined or being treated as a higher risk and paying a higher interest rate.
Of course it can mean that our applications are not approved quite as quickly, but it does allow us to get a higher success rate and in many cases a lower interest rate for you. We believe that this is a smarter way of doing things and will generally mean you get better deals too.
This is why we believe that we offer Smarter Loans.

Our company may receive commissions and/or fee income at settlement from the relevant lender if you choose to take out a loan following our advice and application process. Any payments received are paid to the company on or after settlement of the loans.

Working With Us & Addressing Concerns
Sometimes you may have a concern and you need to know how to raise these so they can be addressed. If you have any concerns you have four ways to address these;
- Firstly it is always best to make sure that our staff are made aware of any concerns as they can generally resolve them.
- You can raise any concerns with Stuart Wills who is the principal at Smarter Loans and he will review and look at things for you.
